The Rotary Club of Saco Bay recognized several of its members at its weekly meeting on December 3, 2015 at Jimmy The Greek’s in Old Orchard Beach. A Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals acknowledges individuals who made contributions or had a contribution made in his/her name of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. The Rotary Foundation is dedicated to fighting disease, saving mothers and children, supporting education, promoting peace, providing clean water, and growing local economies through grants and donations.

District 7780 Governor Sheila Rollins and Past President Dru Laduke introduced the newest Paul Harris Fellow Pamela Gallo, Joanne Landry, and Bradley Paul. Jack McAdam, owner of McDougal Orchard in Sanford-Springvale, was also recognized as Paul Harris Fellow for his significant assistance given as he exemplifies the Rotary International Motto “Service Above Self”.

Kitty Chadburne, Jim Cartier, Uwe Kirchner, and Dan Colby were recognized as Multiple Paul Harris Fellow. These milestones (gem stones in sapphire or ruby) added to a Paul Harris Fellow pin, mean that an additional $1,000 has been given to The Rotary Foundation. Many other notable figures have been named as Paul Harris Fellows, including U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, U.S. astronaut James Lovell, UN Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar, and Jonas Salk.

In addition, District Governor Sheila Rollins recognized Jeff Slaton and Uwe Kirchner as newly members of the Paul Harris Society for their contribution of $1,000 each year to the Annual Fund, PolioPlus, or approved Global Grant. The purpose of the Paul Harris Society is to honor individuals for their generosity to The Rotary Foundation.
