Shutterbugs 4 Charity (S4C) is a 501c3 nonprofit organized in 2019 by a group of diverse individuals who are focused on “Inspiring A Better World through the Lens.” By sharing impactful images and stories that catch the eyes and hearts of the community, we hope to organize support for charitable initiatives and nonprofit work dedicated to improving the world around us.

A Running Passion carries on the legacy of coach Will Fulford by enhancing the lives of young people involved in the sports of cross country and track and field through education, guidance, coaching, programming, and removing financial barriers associated with participation in those sports.

Our Mission: To provide free air transportation to qualified patients and their families by arranging flights to distant medical facilities, delivering supplies to disaster areas, and reuniting families during desperate times.

Furniture Friends is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides donated furniture to people in need throughout Greater Portland. With ongoing support from the community, we are able to fulfill our mission of “Creating Homes. Rebuilding Lives.”

The mission of the program is to provide a sit-down community meal and to provide a safe and friendly environment where guests can come for socialization to help reduce isolation. Dinners are offered twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays from 4:15 to 5:30 pm at the church parish hall at 271 Main Street in Saco. While donations are always welcome, no fee is charged for the dinner.

Thornton Academy’s Homestay Program offers an alternative to dormitory living for international students seeking language and American cultural immersion. In turn, families are given a wonderful opportunity to learn from their Homestay students, sample new traditions, cuisines and languages, teach their children about ambassadorship, and share in the excitement of their Homestay sons and daughters as they begin their great American adventure. It’s a time of discovery for the student, as well as the Homestay family. 

Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 3,700 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.

Pine Tree Camp opened its gates in 1945 as a summer camp for children with physical disabilities. Over the years, it has evolved into a place where children and adults with disabilities are able to participate in all the recreational activities for which Maine is known all year long. The barrier-free setting, along with an amazing staff, ensure that activities like swimming, fishing, kayaking, hiking, boating and even camping in a tent under the stars are completely accessible to all. Participating in activities that take people beyond their disability has a tremendous impact. It builds self-esteem and self-confidence. That experience coupled with meeting friends who understand and experiencing the feeling of acceptance is transformational.

We are proud to be Maine’s only American Camping Association-Accredited camp for people with disabilities.
