Rotary and Town of Old Orchard Beach collaborate on beach accesible wheelchair

 

Well worth the effort. When organizations work together within their own avenues and with other groups, things certainly do happen. Old Orchard Beach now has a wheelchair that can bring people across the beach and down to the water. It started with a request and turned into a quest. Our own Jason Webber, Director of the OOB Recreation Dept., spearheaded the effort. He worked at the district level, our club and with others to make this happen. After the grants were written and all the paperwork was done, folks can now enjoy our beach up close and real. The wheelchair was given to the town at a Town Council meeting and was greatly appreciated. It is opportunities like this where we can assist and partner with our communities to make a difference in people's lives.
