Jimmy Albert Service Above Self

 

 

I would like to nominate Jimmy the Greek’s Restaurant for the Service Above Self Business Award for his outstanding service to our Club and our community. Last fall, our meeting venue was surprisingly no longer available for our weekly morning meetings.  A committee was formed and Jimmy stepped forward and agreed to host and serve our Club, even though it was not during his normal operating hours and he had to bring in staff to cover the meeting.  We truly can’t thank him enough for all that he has done for our Club.

 

In addition to what he does for our Club, Jimmy the Greek’s consistently donates and gives back to our community.  He routinely provides pizza fundraisers for the Old Orchard Beach schools and Alumni Association.  This is also true for the Community Food Pantry, Community Animal Watch, and many other community organizations.  Each year Jimmy organizes the Frozen Four Miler that provides numerous scholarships for the Recreation Department for local children and teens.  Jimmy generously allows the Recreation Department to frequently utilize the back room for various activities including a community outreach program.

 

Jimmy the Greek’s is a valuable member and contributor to OOB365.  He is a tireless volunteer and advocate.  He operates year-round and provides a variety of entertainment.  He allows various organizations to use the restaurant and the parking lot for their events without charge.  Jimmy the Greek’s is also a generous advocate and volunteer, both time and money, for the Ballpark.  I am certain that this list is not complete but just a few examples of all that Jimmy the Greek’s does for our community.

 

In closing, we are fortunate to have such a generous and committed business in our community.  I am honored to nominate such a deserving business for this award. Jimmy has consistently demonstrated the Rotary spirit of Service Above Self and clearly operates according to another of our mottos, He Profits Most Who Serves Best.   I hope you join me and commend Jimmy for all of his efforts.
